Tips and Techniques for Teachers to Make Online Exams

Many teachers today have embraced the new world of online exams. Online teachers must find a balance between being in the classroom, teaching lessons to assist their students, and preparing for and grading online exams.

It may seem daunting to go from traditional paper-and-pencil tests that students take while sitting in your class with you, grading them as they take it, with occasional revisions along the way, to an online exam that students undertake alone at home – without your guidance or oversight.

In a virtual classroom , online exams and preparation for the mock test can be taken in an online classroom or a regular classroom. However, the regular classroom is preferred for online exams.

The online learning environment has revolutionized the way we learn. With a virtual classroom, we can do virtual teaching from anywhere in the world and learn at our own pace. Online classes in Google Classroom are one of the most popular ways of online learning. And Google Classroom online also offers a variety of features that make it ideal for virtual teaching.

7 Tips and Techniques for Teachers for Transition to Online Exams:

  • Keep it Simple

The sheer volume of students you must teach, the number of exams that need to be taken, and their different formats can seem overwhelming. A simple, 10-minute test seems like a long way away. However, students learn best when they’re engaged in the subject of learning. Not only will they be engaged if you can maintain the same format, but they’ll also find it easier and less tedious to complete an online teaching.

  • You Are Still the Teacher

You can’t let the lack of in-classroom contact with students during the exam period stop you from your primary role as a teacher – helping students learn, monitoring their progress, and giving them feedback on how they performed. But even as your job changes, you must continue to play a key role in your students’ success by guiding and advising them during exam preparation and revision.

  • Work Closely With Your Teacher Coordinator

When you are taking online exams, you must coordinate with your teacher coordinator on how to safely manage and maintain the quality of the courses while maximizing their effectiveness as an online resource.

  • Set Realistic Time-Frames for Yourself

You will need to develop a realistic timetable for your tasks during the exam period, prioritizing students with special needs, those who are underperforming, and those who are most likely to need help. Your timetable should include ensuring that you have enough time to coordinate with your teacher coordinator at least twice a week.

  • Hold Review Classes and Online Sessions

You are in the best position to assess when students are ready to take their exams. You can prepare for both of these events by holding regular review classes and online sessions with your students.

  • Keep Challenging Exams Online

Online exams can be used to promote the use of advanced technologies such as virtual reality, but they can also provide a framework for engaging students in higher-level thinking skills such as critical thinking and creative thinking. Be sure to always keep higher-level thinking questions on your site in addition to more standard multiple-choice questions.

  • Keep everything updated

You must constantly review, revise and update your course offerings as technology changes – whether you’re adding new content, streamlining existing courses, or introducing new technology, one must be sure that the course is still effective for students. If a technology change is too far-reaching for you to feasibly add new content or change the content of your previous version of the course, you may want to rewrite it entirely.

  • Stay Organized

Your organization skills are vital to making the transition to an online exam system. You will need to invest time in creating a workflow and deadlines that work for you, but they can also be an opportunity to teach other skills such as prioritization and delegation.

Keep track of your student’s progress, monitor their files, and know when they have finished submitting their coursework so you can make sure that you are giving them the opportunity to ask for help when needed. You will also have to learn about online exam questions, typically known as multiple-choice questions or multiple-choice questions with true/false answers.

You have the ability to create online tests online, upload them and administer them through your account. You will want to create a sample test for your students to practice on before they submit their exams. It is crucial that you continue to monitor their progress and quickly provide feedback or advice if it is warranted, even if the students’ exams are done.

The increasing use of online learning will continue to require you to re-think, organize and develop your teaching practices. To be successful in this arena, you must provide your students with a high-quality course and fully understand the different uses of technology.

Your students will benefit from your experience and the tools at your disposal. All teachers must prepare for online assessments regardless of whether they are beginning a virtual learning environment or joining an existing one. Teachers can even sell their courses and tests online.
