Best teaching strategies for school teachers

Teacher Education refers to educating or training teachers to use proper teaching strategies, teaching methods, and teaching techniques for not only their professional development but also to achieve effectual academic outcomes and to shape future generations holistically.

Teachers’ qualification has always been unquestionable, but in promoting the school image, ameliorating teacher performance, and enhancing the quality of teaching, it is important to give it the required attention, commitment, and a solid strategy.

TEACHING STRATEGY

A teaching strategy is a generic plan or program for a lesson/topic. A proper strategy is a combo of different methods and techniques to achieve academic objectives. Following a teaching strategy, it will make a stronger and better communicative mutual relationship between students and teachers.

  1. Uncomplicated and Concise Lesson Target

For the topic which you are going to teach, you must be clear about what

aspect of  your lesson you want to inculcate in students or what’s main

purpose or goal is. Make it clear or concise as it gets easy for students and

teachers to understand and teach respectively.

2. Give More Examples

The involvement of demonstrated examples of each topic makes students

more likely to absorb and retain the information. More examples lead to

mastery of the topic. Using real-life, current or local examples and relating

theory to practice further made it easy for students to memorise.

3. Constructive Questioning Sessions

How do we know that students get a clear conception of a topic? For this, teachers must encourage students to develop confidence and to engage in questioning sessions which also help them to build some basic critical thinking. So, if any student has any doubt or if anyhow hesitate to speak, teachers can individually or in the group ask or discuss questions. And through this, he or she may be able to clear their doubts.

4. Flexibility – To Learn

Each student has a different level of grasping and absorbing new topics. For this, teachers need to be more flexible with each student, using correct techniques. It will help students not cram up words or sentences but let them understand the topic at its own pace. So, simply, we can say the goal or objective will remain the same, but time will vary for each student. And in this journey, teachers need to be more flexible.

5) More Practice, More Mastery

  • Nobody can master a lesson or topic, without practicing it.
  • The more we read, the more we develop our critical thinking and reasoning.
  • The more we practice our skills or topic, the more we can end with good results.

For this teachers should help them out by giving daily or weekly assessments which help students to master their topic. Such assessment must be consistent with the desired learning outcomes. It will further help teachers to know their students’ weaknesses.

6) Recognition and Healthy Feedback

Everybody loves to hear appreciation and this can be a good motivation for students to put in more effort. With this, if given healthy feedback, students will be able to recognize what their strengths and weaknesses are and how with the help of a teacher they can improve. Such a circle of appreciation and healthy feedback will help students to establish an effort-focused atmosphere and to acknowledge their mistakes as a learning opportunity.

DIFFERENT TEACHING METHODS AND TEACHING TECHNIQUES

Teaching methods are the methods or the principles used by teachers at the professional level to make the process of learning and teaching effective for students.

  1. Small-Group Discussions

This is the best teaching method for teachers to work more closely with each student. Teachers can give different activities either through offline mode or online mode and instruct them to work. This will lead each student capable of constructive plans around the assessment.

  1. Group Project-Based Learning

Teachers should assign interesting projects based on their subject or topic in which students have to acquire skills, research, evaluate, make a decision, and much more which will help them to enhance their learning and build strong skills relating to research, interaction among members of the assigned groups and to gather their experiences as well during the project.

  1. Oral Questioning by a Teachers

As we read above, questioning sessions as a teaching strategy can be really helpful. Asking oral questions on current topics or general knowledge not only enhances the knowledge of that single student but also among other students who are listening.

  1. Vocabulary Drills

A fun approach to introduce the new words and to let students be more comfortable with the language. Teachers can teach some useful or difficult words in the text before students read the text. It will help them to memorise the words and find it much easier to read and understand the text.

  1. Explaining Topic through Flow Charts

Flow Charts are graphical or visual diagrams that can be used by teachers to simplify complicated ideas into simpler words, diagrams, or symbols. Students will be able to process and understand the relationship among various steps. And it further boosts students’ interest much better than text. With the help of teaching app features explaining the students can get easier.

Thus, using such different teaching strategies, teaching methods and teaching techniques help teachers to make genuine and empathetic relationships with individual students.  Hence, school teachers can opt for these strategies and techniques and build strong relationships with students. With help of online teaching platform teachers can become more efficient in their work. For this, teachers can get their own app and work more efficiently.
